Your documents stay on your Mac
MDReader is a local, sandboxed macOS application. The Markdown files you open — and the images they reference — are read directly from your disk and are never uploaded, synced, indexed, or transmitted to us or to any third party. MDReader requires no account and works fully offline.
What we collect
To keep the app stable and understand which features matter, MDReader uses Apple-standard third-party services from Google Firebase:
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) — anonymous diagnostic information when the app crashes, such as device model, OS version, and the state of the app at the time of the crash.
- Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics) — anonymous, aggregated events such as app launches and feature usage counts.
This data is not linked to your identity and never includes the contents, names, or paths of your documents.
What we don't collect
- No document contents, file names, or file paths
- No personal information, no account, no email
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking
Third-party services
Crash and usage data is processed by Google Firebase. See Firebase Privacy and Security for details on how Google handles this data.
